Who would've thought we'd actually find them? It's not even too terribly far out from the base...

Maybe it helped that we knew exactly what we were looking for. Normally we're just swimming around trying to find anything new instead of one particular new thing.

[not that it doesn't seem possible, with all the strange forces underlying this planet, but at the same time: dang]

I think we just got lucky, actually. But if the planet decided to make sure that this island was in the direction that we were swimming then I won't complain either.

[sends a little telepathic 'thanks' in the vague direction of the green light, somewhere, privately]

I'm just glad they're not, you know, Reaper-style alien seals. That would have been all we needed!

That wouldn't even be a seal anymore! More like some kind of angry giant eel. And the only one who dislikes us as much as the reapers is the dragon.

. . . would the Dragon look more or less threatening if it were covered in fur?

Less threatening by a little.

Maybe it should have fur.

That might create too much drag in the water, for a creature its size.

[gives it fire breath shooting from its mouth. for aesthetic]

It's not bad for us if it's slower.

Yes, but I'm thinking of it from a practical standpoint! Its practical standpoint.

It's not always practical either.

[angry blind rages and yelling at humans clearly isn't practical]

But for how big it is, speed is essential to avoiding smaller targets that could potentially swarm it.

Not in temperament, no, but I was talking about its physical configurations.

...we've never actually seen it go at speed, have we? It must at least have fast reflexes, though. That Reaper we caught on camera was just gone.

It goes pretty fast normally, but we definitely haven't seen it at full speed. I'd be interested to see if it can out-swim a warper.

Hmmm. Might be unlikely. They were using the Warpers to transport the Dragon and Emperor originally, weren't they?

[imsorey]

That is the assumption we're working with, but if the Dragon knew it was coming there's a chance a Warper could be outmatched. I'd assume that they caught the Dragon by surprise with the initial capture and that it was contained or sedated when transporting it elsewhere.

That's fair. The Warpers also have the advantage of maneuverability, though. It doesn't matter if the Dragon knows it's coming if the Warper can literally show up on top of it somehow.

It would be more of a fair competition if there was a way to tell where they were going to show up. But right now that's just guesswork.

[trying to beckon a seal closer, though without any fish in his hand it's not doing very much]
