[fortunately Mikleo doesn't need much handling; he's half-hiding himself behind Sorey's shoulder, kind of embarrassed at ALL THIS EMOTION, though he also ducks his head in a visible nod. feelings! how do you deal with them.]
[Honestly it's Dirk here who needs the handling of How To People. He feels like Sorey is better equipped to do this for Mikleo, so he is considering a smooth exit stage left.]
Cool. I'll leave you two to... [Hm no.] ..Do whatever. Let me know.
[he sounds more surprised than mad, because you know what? Holy shit. Holy shit, Dirk is using science to make their dreams come true. This should absolutely be commemorated in a suitable way.
He holds up the new camera to take the friendship selfie with. It's not very ironic, but it is full of feelings.]
Of course it would be! If cameras are popular in more scienticially advanced worlds, then it makes sense they'd be used as a form of personal and social documentation. They're much faster and easier to use than anything we're used to, aren't they?
[Dirk nods because THIS IS IN FACT HIS JAM.] Selfies were extensively used in the early 21st century through media-sharing mediums similar to our communications network. Humans found ways to express themselves and their relations to others by choices in the images they shared.
But then if a photo doesn't contain yourself directly, is it still a selfie? Or is 'selfie' more of an umbrella term referring to photos taken for personal and social consumption rather than public purposes?
Those might be obstacles, but it's nothing she can't overcome. If he was a sailor on a ship who needed to be paid for the work he did, then there would be some record of him whether it was physical or mental. Just asking around might be enough to get her the information she needs too.
Besides, it's a love story, she'd find him no matter what.
[Sorey is just as serious. LOVE ALWAYS FINDS A WAY!!]
