[It's not immediately apparent to Sorey when he turns blue (that's what happens when you're reading a really good book okay), but after a minute something feels off and it only takes a quick inspection to notice the, well, incredibly blue skin.

Which is when he freaks out a little.]

—Mikleo!

--Sorey?!

[Fortunately he hadn't gone far, just around the next set of shelves; he comes walking back fast, his own book still under his arm, and -- freezes at the sight of Sorey.

He may not be very reassuring right now, though, since...fine scales sure are forming on his skin, even as he reaches Sorey's chair and grabs his arm to have a better look...]

[He sees the scales forming on Mikleo's arm and it just increases his concern--sure, he might have eaten something he shouldn't have at some point, but he doubts Mikleo would.]

It's happening to you too! What's going on?

Excuse me, I'm not the one turning blue heeeere--!

[His voice goes WAY up halfway through the last word, and he drops Sorey's arm like a hot potato, looking panicky and holding his hands out in front of him. Oh my god, he's turning into a dragon.]

[Reaching out to grab Mikleo's hand as soon as he lets go, trying to get a better look at the scales.]

Does it hurt? It's got to be temporary, right?

[He--bats Sorey's hand away on reflex; he's not angry or anything, just shaken up for the moment and not thinking properly.]

Don't! What if you catch this too?

[Pulling his hand back first, giving them both a second to take a breath before trying again, determined]

I'm turning blue, I already caught it!

That's not--

[The little moment to breathe helps; he lets Sorey grab his hand this time without resistance, though the set of his shoulders is deeply tense, and bends close to have a look at his skin, to check if there's any other change besides the colour.]

[For now it just seems to be the color change, and Sorey's already set it aside in favor of gently poking at one of Mikleo's scales.]

I feel fine. Just--blue, apparently.

I never thought I'd see the day you'd match your own shirt.

[It's a shaky attempt at levity...the scales are still soft, and Mikleo winces at the poke.]

That feels strange.

--Sorry.

[he lets go and puts his hands in his lap, though he's still looking Mikleo over for additional scales]

I didn't think I'd ever see you turn into a fish, either.

[THEY'RE FORMING ON BOTH HANDS...UP HIS WRISTS...AND ON HIS FACE? They don't seem to be affecting his ability to emote, though; he sputters.]

I am not turning into a fish! Why are you BLUE?

[If Mikleo can make faces like that then it's probably fine tbh]

I don't know why I'm blue! I thought you might know! I just looked up from my book and I was like this.

Why would I know if you were blue? You've never been blue before! For a moment I thought we were becoming hellions!

[squashes Sorey's face between both scaly hands.]

I don't know, I just panicked!

[His face is squished so all of his words come out like, well, his face is being squished.]

I think it would feel a little different if we were becoming hellions. Like, bad.

[He doesn't really know for sure, but he figures he can't be far off]

You still feel pretty pure to me.

[SQUISHES HARDERRRR for a moment and then relaxes his hands, some of the tension going out of his frame; he sounds a little embarrassed.]

...you're not the only one who panicked. I thought I was turning into a drake, not a fish.

[Reaching to place his hands on top of Mikleo's in an attempt to reassure him]

You feel pretty pure to me too. You're definitely not turning into a drake. There's no way I'd let that happen.

[If he was turning into a hellion he would look uglier, more warped like the hellion's they've seen before. But even with scales Mikleo's the same as he's always been.]

[Sorey's attempt...works; he huffs gently, patting Sorey's face a little bit with his fingers.]

You don't seem to be turning into anything in particular. You match your shirt, though.

I don't really want to blend in with my clothes.

[He holds out one hand in front of himself to get a better look at it.]

Maybe it's supposed to be camouflage. Think I can change colors?

I...don't know. Wouldn't it make more sense for you to match your cloak, though...?

Try to focus on doing that and see, anyway.

[He closes his eyes and focuses really hard on being able to change the color of his skin, or to blend in with the chair he's sitting on.

After a second he peeks an eye open, impatient.]

Is it working?

Nope. Concentrate harder.

[Closes his eyes again and concentrates REALLY REALLY REALLY HARD!!!!!!1]

[strokes his chin, staring at Sorey VERY VERY THOUGHTFULLY when Sorey opens his eyes again]

Fascinating effect...

--! Did it work?!

You're exactly the same colour.

[SIGHS HEAVILY]

Now you're just teasing me.

Guess I can't deny that.

[he's trying to make him feel better, honest]

[it seems to be working]

It would have been a cool trick! I might have been able to change my skin back to normal that way, too.

Sorry to disappoint. Still, it's not the worst look for you, as long as nothing else happens.

Do you think we should expect anything else to happen?

I don't know. We didn't expect this thing in the first place.

We could ask around. There's no way this is normal!

We're going to have to.

...I really hope it's nothing serious.

I hope it's fixable. This is a little too much to get used to.

[but he is, obligingly, holding still]

[a well-intentioned try! he looks hopeful for a second before seeing that his hands are still, well, blue]

I think I'm a little less blue, don't you?

[ever blunt]

It would be nice if that were the case, but it's not.

It looks a little lighter in the light!

[holds his hand closer to the light for PROOF!!!1

but he's well aware there's no change and is still trying to think of a way to change it back to normal]

[sits down by him, with a sigh]

We'll just have to get some outside input.

[he thinks for a second before getting to his feet]

Do you want to see if we can find Sally or Jack to ask?

Yeah, they should be around--

[...orrrrr their Jack-O-Laptops could start beeping with a slew of video posts right about now, actually]

--Oh, hang on a second.

[and cue fiddling with the laptop to open it and see what the fuss is]
